Worldly Entertainment is Unsatisfying to the Soul and Does Not Edify

With all the hub-bub I've seen about Miley Cyrus, I wanted to post this comment I made on a friend's post...

"If it weren't for the Media hype I don't think I would have even realized that the VMAs happened (we don't have cable) and I don't think I would have been curious to watch it. So, out of curiosity, I did watch Miley Cyrus' performance this morning. And honestly, I wasn't surprised by any of the stuff that was done on stage. I don't know if things were this racy when I was a kid, but what I saw was not something I had not seen before that is not a part of this world. What I do regret is watching the video and now having those images in my mind and that my mind was once again tainted by worldliness. I think these are the things we ought to expect from the world. The world does not know anything other than sinfulness. So, I don't know that it's even beneficial to squawk about this performance because any one out there in this world is capable of doing THIS or even worse. We know that every one needs Jesus and that we ought to be praying for the gospel to penetrate our culture in some miraculous way. In the mean time, we ought to keep in mind that when we engage in worldly entertainment, THIS is what we ought to expect, entertainment that is unsatisfying to the soul and not edifying at all."

How many of you find the stuff on TV so unsatisfying and leaving you feeling BLAH after watching it? Ought we not to pursue the things that edify us and lead us toward godliness?
