On Godliness: Part II

As I mentioned earlier this week, I've been doing a study in God's Word about godliness and I mentioned 4 points:
1. Godliness is a process.
2. Godliness requires training.
3. Godliness requires perseverance.
4. Godliness is by the grace of God.

Well, as I've been meditating on the concept of godliness, I was reminded of a verse last night in 2 Corinthians 5:9, "We make it our aim to please Him." Our whole goal to godliness is to please and glorify God  Then, today in my studies, I read 2 verses about Enoch in Genesis 5:21-24 and Hebrews 11:5. Two concepts stuck with me as I read those verses. First, Enoch was praised as one who pleased God. Second, Enoch walked with God. The footnotes say that walked with God also means "pleased" God, but this stood out to me because I also saw it as Enoch walking this life, not alone, but with God. Enoch didn't please God on his own, but God walked alongside with him, by Enoch's faith.

So, the 2 points I want to add is:
5. The goal of godliness is to please God.
6. Godliness is by faith.
