DON'T EXPECT SMOOTH AND EASY DAYS

February 19, 2014 9:33am

I have been aiming at the wrong goal! When my 8 year old was born I was so ecstatic to finally be a mom...until my smooth and easy days were disrupted. What can I do to make my child not cry and not whine and not fuss so that I can do what I "need" and WANT to do? What can I do to make my child behave so that I don't have to hear the complaining and whining? What can I do to make my children obey me so that they will keep the house clean? What can I do so that MY day will go the way I WANT it to?

Wake up call! Living a life for the Kingdom of God is not smooth and easy, particularly with children! If a Christian who has the holy spirit dwelling in himself still struggles with the sin of self, how much more will a child struggle with the sin of SELF? So, what ought we as parents expect? First, we have the problem of our own self to deal with AND the sins of our children's to address. SMOOTH AND EASY? By no means! Training godliness in ourselves and in our children is intentional and HARD work. So, if you expect smooth and easy days, think again. Your expectation should be heart wrenching, blood sweating, HARD work and if you have a smooth and easy day, then PRAISE GOD for HIS grace upon you and your children that day!
