Crazy is Only a Matter of Perspective
During one of our talks this week my husband said, "You know, we are crazy people. We live in this tiny house that requires so much work, we're going to have 5 children, we're homeschooling, we like to help others and there's always work to do."...But today I had the opportunity to chat with a missionary from Haiti, and she told me about her home and how she is so thankful for a washing machine because she was doing everything by hand...How she was thankful for running water, even though the water drains into a bucket, because she was lugging in water from outside. How she homeschools the 4 out of her 5 children...ETC...And I thought, "If we lived in Haiti, our life wouldn't seem so crazy, in fact, it would seem so good." As I processed this conversation, I realized that crazy is just a matter of perspective. Our life seems crazy because there aren't many people like us but in Haiti our life would seem quite normal. As I came to this conclusion, it made me realize that you can't use your own culture or the people around you to determine how you live your life. It really is a matter of pursuing a life after Christ and pursuing a life that is pleasing to God that determines how you live life...So, whether you are living an affluent life or a poor life or a middle class life or a busy life or a not so busy life, the question is, "Are you living a life pleasing to God?"
